HydroGen™ Hydroelectricity specializes in the production of electricity via
hydropower. As illustrated on the map, the river that runs near Powerton is
all that is necessary to construct an effective hydroelectric dam. The red
circle indicates where we plan to build the dam, if the fine people of
Powerton chose us as their primary energy provider. Here, we will be able
to make a dam that can produce sufficient electricty for the entire town.

Hydroelectricty is a completely renewable resource, meaning that it will never
run out. As shown by the image on the right, the water cycle continuously
replenishes all water reservoirs and is a natural process that will never cease.
This does mean however that in times of drought or low percipitation,
hydroelectric production will not be as efficient.

When a hydroelectric dam is built, a reservoir of water is trapped behind it.
This water can flow through pipes in the dam at high pressures, and this
moving water is directed at a turbine. Once the turbine is spinning, it powers
a generator, which produces electricity. The electricity can then be transported
via telephone pole electrical lines to homes and businesses.

Advantages of Using HydroGen™ Hydroelectricity

• When energy demand is low, water gates can be closed to conserve water use for a later time.
• Water is a renewable resource that emits no harmful gases or other substances.
• The water reservoir that is built up behind the dam can be used for recreational activities such as boating, fishing, and other water sports.
• Hydroelectricity is much more reliable than other renewable resources, such as solar and wind power, since rivers are constantly flowing.

Disadvantages of Using HydroGen™ Hydroelectricity

• Hydroelectric dams are difficult and expensive to construct.
• Once a dam is built, the reservoir that builds upstream of the dam might damage the surrounding ecosystem.
• If dams breach, the large reservoir that the dam was holding back will flood all downstream areas.
